Submitted manuscripts must be original, unpublished, and not under consideration for publication elsewhere. All manuscripts undergo a rigorous double-blind peer review process conducted by at least two independent reviewers with expertise in the relevant subject area.

JIMIK strives for a rigorous yet efficient review process. On average, authors can expect a first decision within 7 days, a peer review period of 14 days, a total submission-to-acceptance time of approximately 28 days, and publication within 7 days of acceptance. The journal is committed to a fair, transparent, and timely review process in accordance with best practices recommended by COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics). To ensure complete editorial accountability, all published articles explicitly feature the complete genesis history (Received, Revised, Accepted, and Published dates).

JIMIK periodically publishes Special Issues dedicated to emerging and high-impact topics in applied informatics, management, and digital communication science. Special Issues are guest-edited by recognized experts and undergo the same rigorous double-blind peer review process as regular submissions.

Proposals for Special Issues should include:

• A clear title and description of the proposed interdisciplinary theme;
• Relevance to the journal's scope and contemporary national/global research trends;
• Names, institutional affiliations, and Scopus/ORCID profiles of proposed Guest Editors;
• Proposed milestone timeline for submission, review, and publication.

JIMIK recognizes the constructive assistance offered by Artificial Intelligence tools in scholarly writing while safeguarding academic transparency. The following policy applies to all submissions:

• Transparent Disclosure: Authors must provide an explicit statement prior to References indicating whether or not AI-assisted tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Grammarly AI, Copilot) were utilized during linguistic polishing or proofreading.
• AI Authorship Preclusion: In alignment with COPE standards, AI tools cannot be listed as authors or co-authors because non-human software cannot assume legal or ethical accountability for research assertions.
• Author Ownership & Integrity: Authors maintain full intellectual ownership and legal responsibility for the factual integrity, empirical datasets, citations, and originality of their published work.
• Permitted Scope: The use of AI is welcomed strictly for proofreading, grammar, and stylistic enhancement. Methodological designs, empirical data analyses, and substantive conclusions must reflect the authors' own scholarly synthesis.

This policy is fully harmonized with the position statement of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

Jurnal Indonesia : Manajemen Informatika dan Komunikasi (JIMIK) is published three times a year (triannual) — January, May, and September. Each issue features an intentionally curated collection of peer-reviewed research articles and empirical case studies covering the multifaceted domains of informatics management and communication science. JIMIK is an immediate and permanent Open Access journal. All published content is freely available online immediately upon release, without subscription, registration, or pay-per-view fees. Readers are permitted to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to full texts of articles, consistent with the Budapest Open Access Initiative (BOAI).

JIMIK operates an author-pays Open Access model supported by an Article Processing Charge (APC). The fee directly covers professional peer review management, Crossref DOI maintenance, XML/PDF typesetting, anti-plagiarism screening, and perpetual digital repository archiving.

Once a manuscript has been formally accepted and production typesetting begins, APC payments are non-refundable.

Authors who publish in JIMIK retain unrestricted copyright of their work, granting the journal right of first publication. JIMIK maintains zero tolerance for plagiarism, data fabrication, or academic misconduct. All submitted manuscripts are screened using iThenticate, Turnitin, and Copyleaks before entering peer review.

All authors, peer reviewers, and editors must disclose any potential financial, personal, or institutional conflicts of interest that could compromise the integrity or objectivity of the research:

• Authors: Must include an explicit Conflict of Interest Statement prior to References disclosing financial grants, corporate consultancies, or affirming their absence.
• Reviewers: Must immediately decline to evaluate manuscripts involving recent collaborators, department colleagues, or competing commercial stakes.
• Editors: Must recuse themselves from handling submissions where personal, institutional, or financial conflicts exist.

JIMIK strictly executes the COPE Retraction Guidelines:

• Corrigendum / Erratum: Issued when a substantive typographical or calculation error does not compromise the scientific findings.
• Retraction: Enacted when a published article contains proven data fabrication, falsification, unreferenced plagiarism, or severe ethical violations. Retracted PDFs are retained in the archive watermarked "RETRACTED" to preserve scholarly history.
• Expression of Concern: Published when conclusive evidence of misconduct is under active institutional investigation.

JIMIK is dedicated to the perpetual preservation and worldwide accessibility of its published scholarship. The journal participates in distributed archiving networks:

• LOCKSS — Enabling participating libraries to collect, preserve, and restore decentralized archives.
• CLOCKSS — Guaranteeing large-scale digital preservation across global dark archives.
• PKP Preservation Network (PKP-PN) — Providing automated distributed preservation for OJS journals.

Authors are permitted and encouraged to self-archive the published version (Publisher's PDF) in institutional repositories, subject archives, and personal scientific profiles.

• Initial Inception & Inaugural Publication (2020): Jurnal Indonesia : Manajemen Informatika dan Komunikasi (JIMIK) published its inaugural edition in early 2020 under LPPM AMIK Indonesia, serving as an interdisciplinary scholarly avenue for informatics and communication research.
• First National Accreditation – SINTA 4 (December 2022): JIMIK was officially awarded SINTA 4 national accreditation by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology in accordance with official announcement (ARJUNA Announcement #482), valid retroactively from Volume 1 Number 1 (2020) through Volume 5 Number 2 (2024).
• Institutional Governance Transition (Late 2022): The management and editorial stewardship of JIMIK was officially transferred from LPPM AMIK Indonesia to LPPM STMIK Indonesia Banda Aceh, reflecting institutional transformation and broader academic capabilities.
• Publication Frequency Expansion (2023): To accommodate the increasing volume of high-quality scientific submissions, JIMIK adjusted its publication frequency to three issues per year (triannual), published every four months in January, May, and September.
• Domain Migration (2024): In alignment with institutional restructuring, the journal migrated its primary electronic publishing gateway from https://journal.amikindonesia.ac.id/index.php/jimik/ to its permanent institutional domain at https://journal.stmiki.ac.id/index.php/jimik/.
• Dedicated Institutional DOI Prefix (March 2025): Commencing March 2025, JIMIK established an independent Digital Object Identifier (DOI) infrastructure using dedicated prefix 10.63447 under the auspices of APJI and CrossRef.
• Interim Accreditation Evaluation (March 2025): Pursuant to Decree No. 10/C/C3/DT.05.00/2025 dated March 21, 2025, JIMIK (E-ISSN: 2723-7079) underwent an interim accreditation reassessment from SINTA 4 to SINTA 5, covering Volume 5 Number 2 (2024) to Volume 10 Number 1 (2029).
• Accreditation Rank Elevation – Re-accredited SINTA 4 (July 2026): Following strategic editorial quality enhancements and rigorous workflow revamps, JIMIK was officially elevated from SINTA 5 to SINTA 4 pursuant to the Decree of the Director General of Science and Technology No. 355/DST/D.D1/HM.01.01/2026 and Letter No. 862/DST/D.D1/HM.01.01/2026, with validity spanning from 2025 through 2030.
• OJS Infrastructure Upgrade (2026): The journal successfully completed an infrastructure upgrade to Open Journal Systems (OJS) version 3.4.0-10, substantially improving system security, database stability, metadata interoperability, and editorial workflow efficiency.
• Harmonization of Standards & New Template Readiness (Target 2027): In comprehensive harmonization with national accreditation criteria (Decree No. 374/DST/D.D1/HM.01.01/2026) and global ethical standards (COPE and CRediT taxonomy), an enhanced manuscript layout and standardized article template are formally scheduled for full implementation starting with Volume 8 in 2027. This milestone ensures end-to-end genesis dating, strict PDF-to-web metadata consistency, and mandatory fourfold author disclosures (AI disclosure, author contributions, funding sources, and competing interests).
